The search for 12-year-old David, who was swept away by the Okrudu River at Kasoa after a heavy downpour, has come to a sad end.
His body was found four days later at Fijai in the Gomoa East District.
David reportedly drowned while trying to retrieve his slippers, which had fallen into a gutter as he made his way to pick up his siblings from school.
Witnesses say the slippers drifted toward the Okrudu River, and in his attempt to get them back, he was caught by the strong currents and swept away.
Confirming the recovery of the body, the Assembly Member for the Kasoa American Town Electoral Area, Shadrach Boakye Yiadom, extended condolences to the family and urged residents to exercise caution during heavy rains.
He advised community members to avoid flooded areas, emphasizing that such accidents can be prevented through greater awareness and adherence to safety measures.
