RESIDENTS OF Foasi, in the Atwima Kwanwoma District in the Ashanti region, are demanding justice, following the killing of four natives of the town.

They want government to ensure that the security personnel that shot and killed the four people should be named and prosecuted.

Their latest demand follows the peaceful interment of the four deceased persons at Foasi on Thursday morning.

Some policemen, who were said to be armed, allegedly, opened fire on residents of Foasi, who were protesting violently, resulting in the four deaths.

The capital of Foasi was being relocated to Trede following a court order which infuriated residents of Foasi, who embarked on a violent protests.

The incident occurred in February 2018 and the four dead bodies had been kept in the mortuary for about ten months before they were finally buried yesterday (Thursday).

Even though the burial ceremony was held peacefully, section of residents of the community stated that they were still not satisfied.

They said paying compensation for the bereaved families and the injured people was not enough, noting that they want the killers to be punished.

“Our shooting incident happened before the one at Asawase occurred but the policemen involved in the Asawase issue have been named and punished.

“It is about ten months now since the shooting took place at Foasi so we are pleading with government to expose and punish the shooters”, some angry residents said on condition of anonymity.
