Former NPP Ashanti Regional Chair aspirant calls for unity ahead of internal polls

A leading member and former Ashanti Regional Chairman aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Odeneho Kweku Appiah, has urged party leaders to put aside religious, tribal, and economic divisions in the interest of building a unified and resilient party ahead of the 2028 elections.

Delivering the keynote address at the NPP’s National Chairmen Conference held at the Longford Royal Center in Kumasi, Mr. Appiah emphasized unity, discipline, and reform as critical to the party’s success. The conference was held under the theme, “Building Momentum: The Role of NPP Constituency Chairmen in Uplifting the Party Towards 2028 and Beyond.”

Top party figures including the 2024 presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and former Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, were in attendance.

Mr. Appiah called on party leadership to prioritise collective goals over individual ambition and work to overcome internal divisions.

He also called for reforms to the party’s leadership qualification structure, advocating that those who have served at the polling station or constituency level be given the opportunity to ascend to regional and national leadership roles.

“We have a great party to protect, promote, rebuild, reorganize and maintain its integrity,” he declared.

He reiterated the need for strong party unity and strategic rebuilding efforts to recapture power in the 2028 general elections.
