The Ghana Police Service has promoted four officers of the Western Central Regional Police Command in recognition of their diligence, professionalism, and dedication to duty, particularly for their role in arresting suspects linked to the Asiyaw murder case.
The officers—No. 47459 G/Sgt. Fetus Gameli Kukuia, No. 52192 G/Cpl. Christian Asare, No. 52441 G/Cpl. Nicholas Kingsley Amoah, and No. 59947 G/Const. Adam Yakubu—have been promoted to the ranks of Inspector, Sergeant, and Lance Corporal, respectively.
The promotions were announced following commendations from the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, and the Police Management Board (POMAB), who described the officers’ performance as exemplary and deserving of reward.
The recognition stems from the officers’ critical intervention on April 30, 2025, just a day after the murder of five individuals at Asiyaw near Nsawam.
The officers intercepted a Grand Bird Bus (AS 4431-22) at Bawdie Barrier near Wassa Akropong, leading to the arrest of Hakeem Imoro, Imoro Tahiru, and Nurideen Wahab for unlawful possession of arms and ammunition.
A search of the bus uncovered a submachine gun and 21 rounds of ammunition, with suspect Hakeem Imoro later admitting the weapon was supplied by Samuel Atsu Forson alias Alanyo, a key suspect already in custody over the Asiyaw murders.
Investigations confirmed the suspects were attempting to flee the region when intercepted. Their arrest has been deemed a crucial breakthrough in the case.
The Ghana Police Service reiterated its commitment to rewarding excellence and reinforcing professionalism across the Service.
