FREE SHS POLICY BIGGEST EVER – ADB MD

The Managing Director of Agriculture Development Bank, Dr. John Kofi Mensah, has said the free SHS policy introduced by the government of Nana Akufo Addo is the biggest positive political decision that has ever happen to this Country.

“Many brilliant people have had their future cut short because  there was no money to pay school fees and  urged parents to take full advantage of  the free policy to ensure that their wards  attains secondary education” .

Dr Kofi Mensah  said parents will no longer be burdened with the huge school fees to pay for their wards to access senior high school education and called on traditional and opinion leaders to play their part in ensuring the policy succeeds .

 

Speaking at the Commissioning  of a fifty-thousand Ghana cedi Washroom facility for  Breman Asiluma Senior High school, Dr Kofi Mensah said the responsibility now rest with both traditional leaders and parents to ensure children are taking advantage of the policy.

Dr Kofi Mensah praised the government for the introduction of the policy and admitted that the challenges confronting the policy something familiar with every new  policy  .

He said the country  need an educated and skilled persons  to be able survive the new World order indicating that  Free SHS is a major  start towards that.

Just like some other intervention packages and projects in education like the School Capitation Grant, Free Distribution of Uniforms and the Secondary Education Improvement Project (SEIP), the Free SHS is supporting parents and guardians to give good-quality senior high school education to their children and wards.

The Free SHS programme was launched by President Nana Akufo-Addo at the start of the 2017/2018 academic year on September 12, 2017, at the West African Senior High School (WASS) at Adenta near Accra in the Greater Accra Region.
