Fummey Philibert Fixes Nsawam Adoagyiri Streetlights With ‘Operation Let There Be Light’

Residents of Nsawam Adoagyiri in the Eastern Region were all smiles as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Assembly, Fummey Selorm Philibert, rolled out a community-powered electrification initiative dubbed ‘Operation Let There Be Light’.

The initiative, aimed at addressing pockets of darkness in the municipality, saw the installation of streetlights across key areas including Fire Service Junction through the Municipal Assembly stretch to Prison’s Market, where residents have long lamented the absence of proper street lighting.

Mr. Fummey said the project was born out of his desire to give back to the municipality that shaped him, adding that, his proactive spirit for the town emulated the gesture.

The initiative ‘Operation Let There Be Light’ is only the beginning of a broader community development agenda he intends to champion in Nsawam and beyond.

He noted plans to refurbish the community library and also provide learning materials to selected basic schools in the area.

Residents have hailed the initiative as timely, especially in the wake of recent reports of petty thefts and accidents occurring in poorly lit areas of the town.

In a social media post, he indicated that, “the ‘OPERATION LET THERE BE LIGHT’ just began. This afternoon, I inspected the ongoing Streetlight installation at the Nsawam Market. This initiative has become necessary due to the lack of streetlights causing security limitation and darkness within the municipality. This is a promise I made and I am committed to fully delivering on it.”

In another post, he added, “the ‘Operation Let There Be Light’ continues unabated. Today, Streetlight installation was done from Fire Service Junction through the Municipal Assembly stretch to Prison’s Market. We will collectively lighten Nsawam Adoagyiri for maximum security especially at night.”
