Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann has said he is excited about his team’s upcoming international friendly match against Ghana.
The European giants will host the four-time African champions as part of preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The match will take place on March 30, 2026, at Stuttgart, with kick-off scheduled for 20:45 GMT.
Speaking ahead of the game, Nagelsmann praised the Black Stars and highlighted the importance of the fixture.
“We are very much looking forward to the clash with Otto [Addo]’s team,” he said. He added that Ghana’s style of play would be useful for Germany’s World Cup preparations.
“Their strong transition play can give us a taste of what to expect in the World Cup group match against Ivory Coast,” he noted.
The friendly will help both teams fine-tune their strategies ahead of the tournament, which will be hosted by the United States of America, Mexico, and Canada and begins in June 2026.
Ghana’s Black Stars have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama. The group is expected to be highly competitive, with Ghana hoping to advance beyond the group stage for the first time since the 2010 World Cup.
Germany, on the other hand, will compete in Group E with Cote D’Ivoire, Curacao, and Ecuador.
Historically, Ghana has faced Germany twice at the World Cup. The Black Stars lost 1-0 to the Germans in the 2010 edition and later drew 2-2 with them at the 2014 World Cup.
