GFA committed to Black Stars 2023 AFCON qualification

The General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association, Prosper Harrison Addo, without doubt has expressed high commitment to ensuring the Black Stars’ qualification for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote D’Ivoire.

Ghana’s crucial qualification depends on not losing in their last qualifying game against the Central African Republic, set to take place on September 7th at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Regarding the preparations of the Senior National Team for the AFCON Qualifier against the Central African Republic, Harrison Addo has been engaged in discussions with Citi Sport.

“It’s a must, a game that we are not leaving anything unturn. We are going to work, both technical, players, administratively, and everybody will put their shoulder to the wheel. I know Ghanaians will be in full support, so to ensure qualification. And then there are matches lined up to play, to prepare the team.”

He added, “Team building is a process and so we need to afford the team friendly matches. And so, my only wish is that in team building, sometimes the coaches are trying a number of things, so we should give them the room.”

The Head Coach of the Black Stars, Chris Hughton, is expected to reveal his squad for the game against the Central African Republic.

According to Harrison Addo, the players are in close communication with the Technical Team.

“The technical team is working. For most people, it’s when the list comes out that they think the coaches have started work. They’ve been working. It’s a constant communication with the players.”

“They’ve been monitoring them and they’ve been following them. Both Didi and George Boateng, and then Chris himself. He’s been going around the players, talking to them, has been engaging with their medical teams and coaches as well”, he emphasised.

“And so, when the date for the squad is to be announced is due, you see the work they’ve done at the background coming to the fore, and then we’ll proceed from. The technical team is working. For most people, it’s when the list comes out that they think the coaches have started work. They’ve been working. It’s a constant communication with the players.” he added.

Currently, Ghana is leading Group E of the AFCON qualifiers with 9 points, followed by Angola in second place with 8 points.

The Central African Republic holds the third position with 7 points, while Madagascar, who has knocked out, occupies at the bottom position 2 points.
