The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced it has all negotiations with pay-TV broadcaster StarTimes over renewing their media broadcast rights deal.
This comes after the previous contract expired at the end of the 2023/24 football season.
Accroding to 3news, in an official statement on Tuesday, the GFA confirmed that negotiations aimed at renewing the agreement were stopped in March 2025 because both sides could not agree on the terms.
“The Ghana Football Association (GFA) wishes to inform its members, partners, and the general public that it officially ended all negotiations with StarTimes on the renewal of the Media Broadcast Rights agreement in March 2025,” the statement said.
The GFA also revealed that StarTimes owes an outstanding amount of USD 842,173.36 from the earlier contract. To recover this money, the Association has hired legal experts and started formal action.
“GFA officially notified StarTimes of the situation and is currently demanding an outstanding debt of USD 842,173.36 due the Association from the previous agreement,” the statement added.
The GFA said it is committed to finding a new media rights partner that ensures fairness, transparency, and good value for all parties involved. This includes football clubs, fans, and the larger football community in Ghana.
The Association thanked stakeholders for their support and promised to update the public on future developments.
