GH¢310,000 Block Built for Old Abirem Anglican JHS

A three-unit classroom block has been built for the Old Abirem Junior High School (JHS) at a cost of GH¢310,000.00 to create adequate space for teaching and learning.

It has facilities for computer laboratory, staff common room, head teacher’s office and storeroom.

The project, which was started by the chiefs and people with their own resources received the support of the Newmont Akyem Development Foundation (NAKDeF).

Obrempong Kwasi Amoh Kyeretwie, the chief of Abirem, speaking at its inauguration, said it was a dream come true.

He added that the years of struggle with inadequate classroom space was now effectively over and the net result was going to be an improvement in academic performance.

He used the occasion to encourage everybody to put premium on education and pointed out that, it was the way forward to assure the youth of a brighter future.

He appealed to the Birim North District Assembly to extend electricity to schools in the town to enhance the teaching of information and communication technology (ICT).

Obrempong Kyeretwie vowed to sanction any parent in the area, who refused to enroll their children in school.

He also warned that the operation of game centres would be banned and a taskforce set up to arrest offenders for appropriate punishment.

Mr. Paul Apenu, Executive Secretary for NAKDeF, applauded the contractors for the quality of job done.
