GHA appeal to drivers to exercise patience as Ofankor–Nsawam road work intensifies

The Ghana Highway Authority (GHA), acting on behalf of the Ministry of Roads and Highways, has asked drivers and commuters using the Ofankor–Nsawam road to exercise patience and caution as steps are being taken to address the poor condition of sections of the road.

This follows recent complaints and demonstrations by some drivers over the deplorable state of the stretch, particularly between the Sapeiman and Medie/Sansam junction areas.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, August 19, the GHA acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the distressed portions of the road and said contractors have intensified work to resolve the problem.

According to the Authority, as of Monday, August 18, five gangs were working simultaneously on both the northbound and southbound lanes to improve riding quality and ensure safety for road users.

“While these works are ongoing, we appeal to drivers and commuters to exercise patience and caution when using the road, by cooperating with traffic wardens and flagmen in order to avoid gridlock” part of the statement reads.

It added that law enforcement agencies have been deployed to assist with traffic management and safeguard road users.

“The Ghana Highway Authority remains committed to completing the project. We will continue to provide updates on the progress of work,” the statement further noted.

The Authority further expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and thanked the public for their cooperation as efforts continue to deliver a more durable and safer road.
