GHAMRO chases past executives of misappropriation

The Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO), has said plans are far ahead in retrieving locked up funds by past executives. 

Chairman of the organization, Rex Omar who made this known said some past board members misappropriated monies belonging to the society.

“An amount of GHC 2,113,803.93 made up of band transactions and several withdrawals in cash remained unaccounted for by Carlos Sakyi – KK Kaboobo administration for the period 2012-2014,” he said at a press conference on Thursday.

According to him, the GHAMRO board has authorized their lawyers to retrieve any misappropriated funds belonging to the organization.

“For the past two years, the board has waited patiently for the completion of the process which outcome the Auditor Service is detailed in its final report…

“As a board, we have authorized our lawyers to retrieve any funds misappropriated actions against persons found to have misappropriated funds belonging to the society,” Rex Omar added.

Rex Omar further debunked mentality of many indicating the current board has not been on top of matters in bringing sanity to the organization adding, ”GHAMRO under his administration is ready to discipline members who bring the society’s name into disrepute.”

The Ghana Music Right Organisation (GHAMRO) was established under Section 49 of the Copyright Law, Act 690 of 2005 and regulated under Copyright Regulation, L.I. 1962 of 2010 to collect and distribute royalties accruing to authors and owners of copyright and neighbouring rights.
