Ghana, Nigeria athletes celebrate 2024 Olympic Games qualification together

Ghana and Nigeria are big rivals in everything particularly in sports but beyond competition, there is a special bond the countries share and the aftermath of the 2024 World Relays in Bahamas proved this.

After Ghana and Nigeria finished first and second respectively in Heat 2 of the Men’s 4 x 100 Metre Relay Race to book their spots in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, athletes from the countries celebrated together.

Southern African nations Botswana and South Africa qualified to the Olympic Games in the Men’s 4×400 Metre Relay and athletes from the countries formed a huddle to celebrate qualification.

Ghana beat Nigeria to first place in the race with a time of 38.29 seconds which is an improvement of Team Ghana’s mark at the 2023 African Games that fetched Ghana the silver medal.

Ghana’s anchor leg in the race, Joseph Paul Amoah, led the way with a split time of 9.12 seconds inching above Botsio’s mark of 9.13 seconds.
