Ghana Premier League Starts Tomorrow

Ghana Premier League and Division One League clubs have been handed massive relief following the announcement of Saturday for the start of the two leagues – Premier and Division One Leagues, by the Ghana Football Association.

The league, which was supposed to have kicked off last month, was given an uncertain kick-off date following Great Olympics’ decision to place an interlocutory injunction of it.

The case was thrown out by an Accra High Court last month but Olympics sought for another injunction to stop the kick-off.

However, the case has been dismissed again by the High Court, presided over by Justice Yeboah when it asked the club to redirect their grievances to the Ghana FA for adjudication.

Following the decision, the Ghana FA in a statement of its website, announced that the league would start on Saturday, 17th March.

“The Ghana Football Association (GFA) wishes to inform all stakeholders and the sporting public that the 2017/18 League season commences this weekend”.

The statement signed by GFA General Secretary Mr. Isaac Addo on Thursday, said that:

“Pursuant to today’s court ruling in the matter of Accra Great Olympics FC Limited vs. the Ghana Football Association, please be informed that the 2017/18 League season shall kick off effective Saturday March 17, 2017 at all the centers.”

“All Clubs and stakeholders are to take note accordingly,” it added.
