Ghana Wins Eight More Medals at West Africa Para Games

Team Ghana continued its impressive run at the maiden West Africa Zone A & B Para Games in Abeokuta, Nigeria, by winning eight more medals in Armwrestling and Athletics on Day Four.

The Para Armwrestling contingent led the charge with five medals, including two gold and three bronze. Tahiru Haruna dominated his category, securing two gold medals, while Frank Fudzi added two bronze medals. Isaac Nii Ayitey also claimed a bronze, rounding off the team’s strong performance in the sport.

Ghana also enjoyed success on the track. Addai Hayford powered to gold in the men’s 100m T46/47 final with a time of 11.51 seconds.

In the women’s final of the same classification, Loriba Monica finished with bronze after crossing the line in 16.17 seconds. In wheelchair racing, veteran Paralympian Botsyo Nkegbe secured silver in the men’s T54 100m event.

With the latest medals, Ghana’s confirmed medal haul rises to 16, as the team pushes for more podium finishes in the remaining events.

Later today, attention shifts to wheelchair tennis, where Ghana is guaranteed multiple medal opportunities. Stacy K. Mensah faces Nigeria’s Grace in the women’s singles gold medal match, while Bridget Nartey competes for bronze against Nigeria’s Foami.

In the men’s singles bronze contest, Daniel Laryea takes on Razak of Nigeria. Ghana will also contest the women’s doubles and men’s doubles finals.
