Spanish beach soccer side, Barcelona Beach Soccer Club, has officially signed Ghanaian star Alexander Adjei from Sea Sharks Beach Soccer Club.
This historic move makes Adjei the first Ghanaian beach soccer player to sign for a foreign club to continue his professional career abroad. He is widely known as one of the best beach soccer players in Africa, with an impressive track record at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). He finished as top scorer in two tournaments—scoring 17 goals in Seychelles in 2015 and 11 goals in Egypt during the 2024 edition. Ghana came close to qualifying for the Beach Soccer World Cup during the 2024 tournament but narrowly missed out.
Adjei, who captained Sea Sharks, is admired for his strength, incredible speed, and clinical finishing. He has played a vital role in Ghana’s domestic beach soccer league and for the national beach soccer team, the Black Sharks.
The Brazilian coach of Barcelona Beach Soccer Club, Leo Braga, confirmed that Adjei will join the squad for the upcoming Spanish beach soccer season. Braga said, “This is a very exciting moment for the club and also for Alex because we have been monitoring his development for some time, and we believe he can improve our team.”
The signing is expected to boost Barcelona’s attacking power and increase international interest in African beach soccer talent.
Reacting to the news, Adjei said, “It’s a dream come true. I’ve worked hard for this moment, and I’m proud to be carrying the flag of Ghana into the international arena.”
His move marks a significant moment in Ghanaian beach soccer history.
