Ghanaians should stop hailing foolish people like Amidu – Ken Agyapong fumes

Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong has advised Ghanaians to stop hailing people like Martin Amidu for he does not deserve it describing the former Special Prosecutor as an incompetent manager who could not deliver on his mandate.

His comment comes after the former special prosecutor resigned from his position as the Special Prosecutor.

Martin Amidu on Monday, November 16, 2020, resigned unexpectedly from office as the country’s first Special Prosecutor.

Among other things, he cited interference by the government in his work although he is supposed to be independent and also the death of former President Jerry John Rawlings who to him, was a source of protection from the threats on his life after conducting a corruption risk assessment on the controversial Agyapa Mineral Royalties deal.

According to Kennedy Agyapong, Mr. Amidu could not deliver on the job he was given as Special Prosecutor and was only good at complaining by writing letters as though he was a scribe during the times of Jesus Christ.

The Assin Central MP said his resignation will not have any negative influence on the NPP in the upcoming elections.

”My criticism of Amidu caused me a lot in the party but I can’t say it because the election is drawing closer. We put it behind us because his statement cannot have any effect. He spoke about Agyapa but has anyone sold the Agyapa? Even the work we gave to him on Dumelevo he could not do it. He should tell us of any NDC member who he was able to prosecute,” he said.

“Martin Amidu is not a good manger. In NPP they hail only foolish people that’s why they were hailing Martin Amidu who is full of bad deeds. Tell me, look at the positions he held in the NDC and the things he did. I don’t know what he did that you people treated him as a hero,” Kennedy Agyapong added.
