Ghana’s Emmanuel Essiam Joins FC Winterthur

FC Winterthur has signed Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Essiam on loan from FC Basel until the summer of 2027.

The 22-year-old Ghana U-23 international joins Winterthur to strengthen their central midfield. Essiam is already familiar with Swiss football, having moved from the Ghana Premier League to Basel in early 2022.

Since then, he has played in over 40 matches across the Swiss Super League, Challenge League, and Swiss Cup for Basel, Stade-Lausanne-Ouchy, and FC Aarau.

After struggling with injuries, Essiam spent time on loan at Belgian second-division side Royal Francs Borains to regain fitness. He later returned to Basel, where he remains under contract until 2028, following a club sporting reshuffle.
