Sports Minister Kofi Adams says Ghana’s major sporting achievements in 2025 are the result of deliberate reforms and targeted investments, not chance.
Speaking at the SWAG 50th Anniversary Awards, he stated, “2025 is no accident—we engineered this success.”
According to him, Ghana’s progress in athletics, football, boxing, aquatics, hockey and racquet sports came from careful planning and committed leadership. He explained that government made bold choices and invested in the right areas to help athletes improve. “We took hard decisions, we invested deliberately, and Ghana is reaping the results,” he said.
The Minister pointed to several key successes, including the Black Stars’ qualification to the World Cup, the Black Queens’ impressive comeback, UDS’ global victory and stronger results across various sports federations. He said these achievements show that Ghana is rising again in African and global sports.
“Our athletes have excelled across disciplines, and Ghana has repositioned itself as a credible force in African and global sport,” he added.
Kofi Adams noted that reforms introduced over the past two years are now producing clear and measurable gains.
“This performance is the product of policy, preparation and discipline, not luck,” he stressed.
He encouraged all stakeholders to stay focused and committed.
“We must build on this foundation and resist the temptation to relax. Success rewards consistency.”
