National Security has arrested the bursar of Ghanata Senior High School (SHS), Lamisi Sarah, for allegedly diverting food items meant for students.
The arrest followed a discreet investigation initiated by the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, after her office received credible reports about the suspected diversion of food supplies by the bursar.
Confirming the development in a social media post, the Member of Parliament for Shai-Osudoku disclosed that complaints had reached her office in recent weeks, alleging that portions of food provisions allocated to students were being siphoned off by the school’s bursar.
“Upon receiving the complaints, I immediately alerted the constituency’s National Security apparatus to help me conduct a discreet investigation.
She explained that while she was in the constituency last Tuesday, she confirmed the activity of the alleged diversion, and the suspect was apprehended in the act.
“I directed the officers to hand her over to the Police so that due process can take its full course under the law,” Minister Ocloo added.
Expressing deep concern over the incident, Minister Ocloo noted that such actions erode public trust and negatively impact students’ welfare.
“Acts of this nature undermine public confidence in our institutions and directly affect the well-being of the students placed under our care. It is particularly unfortunate when individuals entrusted with responsibility engage in conduct that sabotages government efforts, only for the system to be blamed for failures created by such misconduct,” she said.
She assured the public of her commitment to ensuring a thorough and transparent investigation.
“Accountability will be upheld, and any person found culpable will face the full rigours of the law. The welfare of our students and the integrity of our institutions must never be compromised,” she stressed.
