Mrs. Nana Akyaa Amoah-Amissah, a seasoned technology executive with over 20 years of experience at global firms including Meta, Google, and WhatsApp, has been officially introduced as the new Acting Deputy Administrator (CEO) of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC).

The announcement was made by the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations (MoCDTI), Samuel Nartey George, during a staff briefing on December 4, 2025, following the reassignment of Abdul-Aziz Mohammed.

During the meeting, Minister George urged Mrs. Amoah-Amissah to work closely with Acting Administrator Mr. Sofo Tanko Rashid-Computer to advance GIFEC’s mission and vision of promoting rural connectivity, digital inclusion, and economic transformation across the country.

Expressing her gratitude, Mrs. Amoah-Amissah said, “As a leader, I believe that we all have a responsibility to serve society and make ethical choices around technology.” She pledged to drive GIFEC’s mandate forward through strong collaboration with the team.

Mrs. Amoah-Amissah brings a wealth of international experience to her new role. She was most recently Global Director of Business and Product Equity Partnerships and Programmes at Meta, focusing on fair and inclusive business practices. Prior to that, she held several leadership roles at Google, overseeing government, education, and mobile partnerships in Africa, as well as business development in the UK and global operations in the US.

In 2020, she became the first Black female Director at WhatsApp and was named a top woman leader in San Francisco in 2024. She holds a BA in Economics from Tufts University and an MBA with honours from the University of Oxford.

Her appointment reflects the government’s continued commitment to leveraging expertise and innovation to enhance digital connectivity and inclusion nationwide, particularly in rural and underserved communities.
