GIVE LANDS FOR NEW COMPANIES – Minister Urges Chiefs

TRADITIONAL LEADERS in the country have been admonished to release lands for the establishment of new companies in their communities.

Giving the advice in Kumasi over the weekend, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah, said the country and its people would see massive development if new companies are allowed to spring up.

“I wish to also urge Nananom to lease out lands to individuals to start businesses to benefit the whole community”, the minister said during the 10th year anniversary celebration of Taabea Company, a leading manufacturer of herbal medicine in the country.

According to the minister, there are several instances whereby some well-to-do- individuals in society that want to establish companies to benefit their communities, gave up along the way due to non-availability of lands.

He therefore entreated chiefs to, as a matter of urgency, consider releasing lands to people, who have plans of establishing companies in their traditional areas.

He also entreated companies, especially manufacturers of herbal medicine, to always strengthen their quality control systems in order to avoid unwholesome products getting into the market.

The minister further entreated private companies to always uphold corporate social responsibilities so that the communities in which they operate would also experience significant development.

Mrs. Clara Agyeman, wife of Dr. Christian Kwasi Agyeman, the Taabea Company CEO, in her succinct remarks, stated the company had for the past 10 years worked to change the face of herbal medicine in Ghana.

She enumerated the various top awards that the company and its leadership had received over the period, and opined that the awards go to buttress that fact that indeed Taabea Company was on the right track.
