Goosie Tanoh Picks Nomination Forms On D-day

A Flagbearer Hopeful of the National Democratic Congress, Goosie Tanoh has hinted his readiness to pick nomination forms today, which is the last day of the exercise.

He is expected to visit the NDC’s Adabraka headquarters in Accra to pick the forms after paying GH¢20,000.

Goosie Tanoh was among four others who failed to pick up forms last Tuesday when the party shut the window on forms picking.

The four which included Ekow Spio Garbrah, Nurideen Iddrissu, Kojo Bonsu and Elikplim Agbemava were all unhappy and protested the GHS 400,000 filing fee.

This led to a meeting between the Council of Elders of NDC and NEC. After the meeting, the GHS 400,000 was slashed to GHS 300,000, but the fee for the nomination form still stood at Ghc20,000.

The Council also pushed for the primaries to be held on January 26, instead of the initial January 19, 2019 date, and pushed for December 4 nomination deadline to Saturday, December 8.

Even though the GH¢300,000 which the aspirants are now expected to pay as filing fee is still on the high side as compared to the GH¢50,000 set by the NDC in 2015 for the 2016 presidential elections, Mr. Tanoh, who is poised to lead the party into the 2020 elections, is going ahead to pick the forms.

He had earlier toured some constituencies in the Region and asked delegates to elect him as their flagbearer to secure victory for the party in the 2020 presidential polls.

Already, Goosie Tanoh’s 2020 campaign tour has taken him to some constituencies in the Volta Region, Greater Accra Region, Upper West Region, Upper East Region, and Northern Region, where he enjoyed significant support from voters.
