Gov’t Will Compensate Owners of Houses Affected By Road Projects

ALL OWNERS of houses and other properties that will be affected by ongoing road projects in the country will be duly compensated by the state.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who gave the assurance, said there is no way that the affected owners of properties would not be compensated. He therefore urged them to co-operate with the Ministry of Roads and Highways so they can get their packages when compensation is due.

“I will urge all those whose properties may be affected by the various road projects to cooperate with relevant bodies and access the compensation due them.

“We shall ensure that fair and adequate compensation is paid to all persons, whose properties shall be affected”, the president assured.

Speaking at a sod-cutting ceremony at Asokwa on Friday to mark the commencement of the Kumasi Roads Facelift Project, Nana Akufo-Addo admitted that the road network in the city was in deplorable state, which did not befit the status of the garden city.

He disclosed that his administration was embarking on the construction of most of the damaged roads in the country to help accelerate the movement of people and goods, and entreated the citizenry to rally behind his government to develop the country to an appreciable level.

As part of the road projects, the president noted, works would soon begin for the dualization of the Accra to Kumasi Highway.
