Gov’t working on solving issues of road accidents – Nana Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said his administration is concern and working towards measures at which road crashes in the country can be solved to the lowest.

Speaking to drivers and traders at Abossey okai as part of his tour of the Greater Accra Region, President Akufo-Addo expressed the hope that a new policy by the Transport Ministry will help reduce road crashes in the country.

“One of the major problems is the carnage on our roads. The deaths and accidents that are occurring on the roads of Ghana are far too much. We are hoping that the policies that are about to be put in place by the Transport Ministry will curb these things.”

Developmental Projects

As part of Government’s Agenda 111, which seeks to build District Hospitals in Districts without hospitals, the President told the House that, in the course of the next twelve (12) months, Government will construct District Hospitals in the districts without them in the Greater Accra Region.

“They are Ablekuma Central, Ablekuma North, Ablekuma West, Accra Metropolitan, Ada West, Adentan, Ashaiman, Ayawaso Central, Ayawaso East, Ayawaso West, Ga Central, Ga South, Korle Klottey, Krowor, La Nkwantanang Madina, Ningo Prampram and Tema West,” he said.

The hospitals, he indicated, will have a 100-bed capacity, fully equipped, with appropriate accommodation for medical personnel, i.e. doctors and staff.

Giving an account of the work undertaken by Government in the Greater Accra Region over the course of his tenure of office, President Akufo-Addo told the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs that “there are 847 projects being executed in the Region, with 423 completed, and the remaining 424 ongoing”.
