GSE Suffers Fresh Blow as Turnover Drops 27%

The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) endured another difficult trading session on Thursday, September 10, 2026, as investor activity weakened sharply, sending both trading volume and turnover lower.

A total of 1,648,722 shares changed hands during the session, generating a market value of GH¢4.10 million. Compared with the previous trading session on Wednesday, September 9, the figures represented a 55% decline in trading volume and a 27% drop in turnover.

The sharp contraction points to a market that is currently seeing less aggressive trading activity, even as some individual stocks continue to attract investor interest.

With 30 listed equities participating in the session, the market ended with only four gainers against nine losers, leaving the broader trading mood firmly on the cautious side.

The company’s share price climbed 6.06% to close at GH¢7.00 per share, giving investors one of the strongest price movements of the day.

Ecobank Transnational followed with a 4.27% gain, while Kasapreko advanced 3.35%. Dannex Ayrton Starwin also recorded a modest 1.11% increase.

The performance of Enterprise Group was particularly notable because it came against a backdrop of declining market activity. Its gain suggests that investors were still willing to take positions in selected counters where they saw value, even as overall participation weakened.

The four gainers, however, were not enough to offset the broader declines recorded across the market.

The decline placed the bank at the bottom of the session’s losing stocks and represented one of the sharpest single-day movements among actively traded equities.

Hords also suffered a significant setback, falling 8.86%, while Digicut Production & Advertising declined 6.67%.

The broad spread of losses highlights the pressure facing several counters, particularly financial and corporate stocks. For investors watching daily price movements, the contrasting performance between the gainers and losers shows how selective the market has become.

Despite recording a 6.67% decline in its share price, Digicut Production & Advertising dominated trading volume during the session.

The company recorded 707,533 traded shares, accounting for a substantial portion of the day’s total activity.

Dannex Ayrton Starwin followed with 319,083 shares, while Intravenous Infusions recorded 123,873 shares.

MTN Ghana also featured prominently, with 119,392 shares changing hands.

The concentration of activity in a handful of stocks suggests that although overall market participation declined, some counters continued to attract meaningful investor attention.

For Digicut in particular, the combination of heavy trading volume and a sharp price decline could indicate intense repositioning by investors, with buyers and sellers actively testing the stock’s current valuation.
