Hearts of Oak Withdraw From 2026 GHALCA Top-4 Tournament

Accra Hearts of Oak have withdrawn from the 2026 GHALCA Top-4 Tournament due to a clash between the competition’s dates and the club’s existing programmes.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, the Phobians said the tournament’s timing, which is close to the start of the new Ghana Premier League season, also influenced their decision.

The club said taking part in the competition at this time would affect its preparations and other activities ahead of the new league campaign.

Hearts of Oak said they had earlier engaged the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) and asked for the tournament dates to be changed to allow the club to participate.

However, the club said its request did not lead to any change in the schedule, leaving management with no option but to withdraw.

“After careful consideration, the Club has therefore decided that withdrawing from the tournament is the most appropriate course of action at this time,” the statement said.

Despite pulling out, Hearts of Oak thanked GHALCA for its efforts to organise the 2026 Top-4 Tournament and wished the association and the participating clubs well.

The club also said it remained committed to maintaining a good relationship and working with GHALCA and the wider Ghanaian football community.
