HIGHEST WEDDING: The Journey Of Sarkodie and Tracy

As most of us are aware, the Highest, Rap King, Sarkodie got hitched over the weekend, Yes!!! Sarkodie is married. The world known rapper got married to his Long-time girlfriend Tracy popularly known by the moniker Tracy Sarkcess.

Many people have been waiting on this day for a very long time. Especially when the couple welcomed their first born, Titi, the wedding of the two was highly anticipated. On Saturday, July 21, however their wishes came true but what I am sure many did not like was, the couple decided to have a private wedding, which means only a few people were allowed to witness the union.

I was however honoured and priveledged to have been part of the selected few who were there to witness the beautiful union. I must say it was a top class wedding and the Highest really went all out for his lady. I want to share a short story of how Sarkodie and Tracy became what they are today.

From the hustle of him on the streets of TEMA aiming to be known and gotten the focused he needed, from studio to studio, walking and stressing himself just for the better recognition. Sarkodie many know was not from that of a ‘rich’ background as compared to wife Tracy.

Let me start from the very beginning, Sarkodie and Tracy were neighbors. They just lived two blocks apart from each other. Even though they lived closed to each other, they hadn’t spoken yet. Sark however had a serious crush on Tracy and required the services of a mutual friend for connection to Tracy. Days went by and he wasn’t receiving any positive response from the mutual friend, who by the way is called Matilda, cousin of Tracy.

Eager to know If Tracy had accepted to be friends with him, he kept on “harassing” Matilda for answers to his request. These went on for a while and one day frustrated Matilda told him the truth that she [Tracy] is not interested and she doesn’t think it would work out, so he [Sarkodie] should forget about it.

Years flew by and Tracy had just returned from Germany and was outside her home with some friends having a chat. Sarkodie who was also coming home from a studio session saw the lady he had a crush on sitting outside. Tracy asked “hey, isn’t that Mike?” but the angry disappointed Sarkodie that moment said some distasteful things to Tracy which wasn’t as welcoming as she would have wanted as a reply from him.

After the little altercation, Tracy felt regret, and she reached out to him to tend to wounded scars. They had a walk in the neighbourhood and this allowed them to know each other well and I can boldly say; that was the beginning of their love story.

Getting to understand the vision of the man she has now come to call husband, she took it upon herself to push the brand SARKODIE as higher as he could. She created social media pages and the rest, well, is what we are witnessing, the two are now husband and wife. There is no true love story without opposition and their love faced great opposition from Sarkodie’s mum who wasn’t a fan of Tracy because she was in short skirts all the time when she came back to Ghana from Germany for holidays. The couple however overcame this and now she [Sarkodie’s mum] is happy because her son is happy with the lady in whom he finds love.

Tracy cared, loved and overall supported Sarkodie with she can, believed in the dream to the highest level. Something which started as a mere and small living of dream has now the most talk about in the country and around the globe.

The wedding was atteneded by top personalities in the country which include the best man Angel Town who doubles as Sarkodie’s manager and cousin to the bride, Joslyn Dumas, Juliet Ibrahim, Sammy Forson, Nana Appiah Mensah, Peter Okoye of P Square Fame, K.O.D, Mr Amoabeng, Obrafour, Possigee, MOGbeats and a host of other dignitaries.

The love between the two has developed so high to the process of having no option than to broadcast the joy of love to the general public. Love is indeed beautiful as the wedding day of the two showed clearly of how happy they were including parents from both side.

Tracy has indeed showed and believed in something wealthy and today, she is enjoying the fruit of her hard earn suffering.

The wedding took place at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra at 6pm. The couple were graced with wonderful live band music from Patch Bay Band. I want to wish the newlyweds a happy marriage life and a “Sarkcessful” union.
