I Deserve Artiste of the Year Nomination — Fancy Gadam

With the nominations of this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards out, artistes and fans alike are bound to express varying views depending on where they stand.

One such artiste is Tamale based Afro Pop/ Hiplife artiste Fancy Gadam who strongly believes he should have been nominated in the Artiste of the Year category as well as Best Collaboration..

Speaking to Showbiz on behalf of his artiste, Jamal Bamba, manager of Fancy Gadam said he is over qualified to be in the Artiste of the Year category.

“We were all expecting that Fancy Gadam will be nominated in the Artiste of the Year category because he worked hard in the year under review and had it all going well for him so we are wondering why he was not nominated in that category,” he said.

“The fans are more disappointed than Fancy Gadam himself, they feel it in their bone because they feel he is over qualified.”

Jamal believes that the odds were against his artiste because he is not based in Accra, “If Accra was Tamale and Tamale was Accra, he would have had an upper hand, he would have been comparable to none,” he stressed.

According to Jamal, Fancy Gadam single handedly fills up big venues both in Accra and Tamale and his fans feel disappointed because they supported him through and through.

The other shocker for Fancy Gadam’s team is the fact that he did not also make it in the Best Collaboration category considering that his collaboration with Sarkodie, Total Cheat was a big hit.

“How is that possible? Everyone will agree with me that Total Cheat was a big hit and should have made it in the Best Collaboration category,” he said.

“Having said that, I would like to make it clear that the Fancy Gadam brand is not really about awards, it’s about the numbers and he’s got the numbers, no wonder he fills up venues with 60,000 and more people,” he said.

Fancy Gadam filed for four categories and was nominated in two, being Hiplife Song of the Year and Most Popular Song of the Year.

Jamal hinted that Fancy Gadam has a soon-to-be-released collaboration with Mr Eazzi titled Yakachana (Where You Dey Go) and he has also done collaborations with Stonebwoy and Mugeez of R2Bees fame which will be released soon.

“We want to assure his numerous fans that he will come out with more hit songs so they should watch out,” he said.
