Popular TikTok star Sexy Afrah has opened up about the painful consequences of leaving her marriage in the UK for a love story in Ghana that ended in heartbreak.
Speaking on The Delay Show, on August 25, 2025, the 25-year-old influencer revealed how she sacrificed a stable life with her white husband abroad after falling for a Ghanaian man she met on TikTok. Blinded by promises of love and a future together, she said she lied to her husband just to be with him.
“He promised me heaven. I lied to my husband that my grandmother had died just so I could return to Ghana to be with him. My husband resisted, my mother objected, but I didn’t listen. I wanted to prove my love to him,” Afrah confessed.
But the dream quickly crumbled. According to her, the life she imagined was far from the reality she faced in Ghana.
“All he did for me in two years was rent a chamber and hall in Kumasi, buy a fridge and some chairs. That was it. He didn’t take care of my family like he promised. He even wanted me to cut ties with them,” she recalled.
The turning point came when her mother fell seriously ill in Obuasi. On set, Afrah broke down in tears as she described the guilt she felt.
“I wept because here was my mother, this woman who had suffered so much to raise me, and I had abandoned her because of the love I had for this man. I had turned my back on her,” she said with emotion.
It was only after she reminded her boyfriend of his promises that he reluctantly started sending GH¢1,000 monthly for her mother’s upkeep. But by then, the damage was done. “My soul was bleeding,” Afrah admitted.
Despite the emotional pain, she said she remained in the relationship for a while, following his every command, even when it meant insulting her husband abroad.
“Whatever he told me, I did. That’s how blind I was,” she revealed.
Over time, the reality sank in. The relationship was draining her emotionally and spiritually, and everyone around her could see it.
“He was hurting my soul. People on social media could see things weren’t working, but I kept hoping it would change,” Afrah shared.
Finally, she gathered the courage to walk away. “I realized it wasn’t worth it. One day, I sent him a voice note and told him it’s over. That was it.”
Reflecting on her experience, Afrah admitted it was a painful lesson. “I made a big mistake. But I have learned. I won’t repeat it again.”
