Veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has revealed that she rejected several lucrative offers, including opportunities in politics, because she refused to compromise her principles.
The actress made the revelation while speaking on an episode of the Afropolitan podcast, where she explained that some of the offers could have made her a billionaire.
According to Omotola, she has found herself in situations where accepting certain offers would have brought her huge financial benefits. However, she chose to walk away because she believed the opportunities could affect what she stands for.
“If I wanted to be a billionaire, I would have been one easily. Because I have been in situations where no one would have known, and I would have taken things and compromised my stance. But I would turn it down and walk away. Many times. Even in politics.”
She said some of the offers were not necessarily bad, but accepting them could have weakened her beliefs and the message she represents.
“I am talking about many times where I could have compromised my stance and got paid handsomely for it. But I said, ‘No.’ Sometimes, they are not necessarily bad things. They are just things that would just rock your foundation or belief systems.”
Omotola added that she sometimes feels tempted to accept such opportunities because they appear harmless.
However, she said she eventually walks away because accepting them could dilute her message in the long run.
The actress also revealed that she often experiences what she described as a financial miracle after turning down major financial opportunities.
