I Was The Richest Movie Producer – Socrate Safo

Ghanaian renowned filmmaker Socrate Safo has revealed that he was once the richest man during his early years in the movie industry.

Speaking recently on Daybreak Hitz with Kwame Dadzie and Doreen Avio, the filmmaker explained that his involvement in film production brought him great wealth at a young age. He attributed his success to the guidance of his mentor, Steve Asare Hackman of Hacky Films.

“I was the richest young man, young boy at that time in the film industry. I learned a lot from him [Hacky Films] and he’s always my mentor. Hacky has always been my mentor to date. I go to him, we speak almost every time and we still help each other so it really helped me. There are a lot of things that I learned from him,” Safo shared on Hitz FM.

He further encouraged people to respect God’s divine guidance in their lives, stressing the importance of faith and prayer.

“You see when it comes to, and let me tell you one thing, maybe it’s for us to learn. Sometimes when you pray, God has a way of answering your prayer,” he added.

Socrate Safo is regarded as one of the most influential figures in Ghana’s film industry. Over the years, he has played an important role in policy development, working to improve structures and opportunities for filmmakers.

He is also well known for his controversial yet commercially successful movies, especially in the late 1990s and 2000s. These productions not only entertained audiences but also contributed to the growth of Ghanaian cinema. His works helped shape the local film industry while creating platforms for many actors and young filmmakers to rise to prominence.
