Ignore fabricated news, new cocoa price not yet out – COCOBOD clarifies

The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has refuted claims circulating about a new producer price for cocoa, labelling such reports as false and misleading.

In an official statement issued Thursday, the Board clarified that no price adjustment has been authorized, as the required administrative framework remains incomplete.

COCOBOD highlighted two critical gaps including the absence of functional Board of Directors to approve such a decision.

It also pointed out that the Producer Price Review Committee, which assesses and proposes price changes, is yet to be constituted.

“The public is advised to disregard any statement or news announcement on the producer price of cocoa suggesting a decision or announcement on the producer price of cocoa. Without these key bodies operational, any announcement of a new producer price is impossible and unauthorized,” part of the statement reads.

The Board urged the public and media to ignore unverified claims and await official communication through proper channels.

THE PUBLIC SHOULD DISREGARD ANY STATEMENT SUGGESTING A PRODUCER PRICE ANNOUNCEMENT

The public is advised to disregard any statement or news announcement on the producer price of cocoa suggesting a decision or announcement on the producer price of cocoa.

The reasons for the disregard are as follows;

1. There is no Board of Directors in place hence such a crucial decision can never be taken
2. There should be in place a committee by name Producer Price Review Committee which also is yet to be formed.

In view of the aforementioned reasons there is no way such an announcement can be made.
