I’ll Legally Divorce My Wife – Gospel Musician On Daddy Lumba’s Widow Drama

Gospel musician Edward Akwasi Boateng has announced plans to legally end his marriage, saying he fears his estranged wife might one-day claim to be his rightful spouse after his death.

He compared his situation to the ongoing legal feud between the widows of late Highlife Legend Daddy Lumba.

In an interview with Kumasi-based Hello FM on October 13, 2025, Boateng said he intends to visit the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to begin the official divorce process.

“Looking at what is going on, I even plan to go to the KMA to end my marriage. It’s worrying that after separating from your wife, when you die, she may come and fight with your family, claiming to be the rightful wife. I can’t let that happen. She left me, so I’ll take the initiative and go to the authorities to properly dissolve the marriage,” he said, when asked what he has learnt from the ongoing legal feud between the widows of late Highlife legend Lumba.

Boateng’s statement adds a new chapter to his long-standing marital challenges, which have been widely discussed in the media. His troubled relationship has also taken a heavy financial toll.

In past interviews, the gospel artiste revealed that after getting married, he lost a fleet of 17 cars and all his other properties. He explained that his wife encouraged him to live a lavish lifestyle, only to abandon him later after relocating to the United States.

The collapse of the marriage, he said, pushed him into financial hardship. At one point, he struggled to pay for his children’s school fees and meet basic family needs.

Despite the personal and emotional pain, Boateng seems determined to officially close this painful chapter. For him, legal separation is not only about peace of mind but also about protecting his family from future disputes.
