I’m not arrogant – Freda Rhymz

Rapper Freda Rhymz has stated that contrary to perceptions about her, she is not an arrogant person.

Freda Rhymz’s posturing when the ‘beef’ involving her, Sista Afia and Eno Barony was going on made people believe she was disrespectful.

Her case was not helped when during an appearance on UTV’s United Showbiz she failed to render an apology to Sista Afia for the language she used in one of her diss tracks.

Sista Afia had apologised to Freda Rhymz for attacking her when they met at TV3 and explained that the words she used in her song triggered her anger. When Freda was asked to apologise, she stood her ground that she owed no one an apology.

Earlier in the show, she had tried to walk off the set after her argument with Sista Afia got heated and it took the intervention of the host Nana Ama McBrown to get her to stay.

Her attitude and mannerism got people tagging her as disrespectful and arrogant but in an InstaLive chat with Graphic Showbiz, she said she was not.

“I am not an arrogant person, anyone around me knows that I am the kind of person who will not sit down for you to take advantage of me. Why not if I did wrong, I would apologise easily but not when it has to do with lyrics.

“Like I keep saying, there is no formula for rap and that is it. It is just in this part of our country that when one stands for what he or she believes in, that person is termed arrogant. I am not at all,” she said.

When asked if it was good for one to get emotional during lyrical battles, she said, no.“It is not a good thing, it’s using words to get to one another so if you are not able to detach your emotions from it, you will be hurt.”
