Investor confidence key to economic growth – Nelson Cudjoe

The Head of Finance at Merban Capital, Nelson Cudjoe Kuagbedzi, has emphasised the importance of investor confidence in driving Ghana’s economic recovery, following the presentation of the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review by the Finance Minister.

Reacting to the budget on Citi FM’s The Big Issue on Saturday July 26, Kuagbedzi said the renewed investor confidence highlighted by the Finance Minister is a significant sign of progress.

Kuagbedzi noted that investor trust in the economy plays a more critical role in economic growth than GDP figures alone.

“He talked about renewed investor confidence, which is true,” he said.

He added: “I have always told people that if you ask me to choose between GDP growth and investor confidence as the main driver of economic growth, I would choose investor confidence.”

According to him, capital inflows are directly linked to how investors perceive the stability and potential of an economy.

“When investors don’t have confidence in your economy, they simply won’t bring money in,” he explained.
