ISD holds Review Summit and Awards Deserving Staff

The Information Services Department (ISD), in collaboration with the Ministry of Information, has held the third Public Relations Officers’ (PROs’) Review Summit aimed at creating a platform for all government PRO’s to review its work for the year under the review and strategize on Government Communication.

The Minister for Information, Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, took the opportunity to urge the PROs to make judicious use of the government online reporting platform, Bonsu, to enhance and support government communications.

He made this remark at GNAT Hall in Accra during the Public Relations Review Summit and Awards event on the theme: “Boosting Revenue Generation Towards Economic Recovery, the Role of Government PROs”.

According to him, the transformation agenda for ISD is hinged on proper research outcomes and also visible government communication to ensure there is no room for grapevine communication and speculations to derail government’s image.

In a related development, awards were given to 11 deserving Public Relations practitioners who displayed very high levels of professionalism and proactive communication skills during the year in review (2022).

Mr. Abraham Otabil, Head of Public Relations at the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources took the Best Public Relations practitioner of the year with his assistant, Michelle Fafa Agbenorto, winning the PROs’ PR Assistant of the year.

The Best in Feature Writing went to Ms. Mabel Delassie Awuku of the Public Relations Coordinating Division (PRCD) of the Information Services Department

Mr. Ahmad Nasir Yartey, Head of Public Relations at the Ministry of Roads and Highways, took the Best Social Media PR Unit and 2nd Runner-up of the Best PRO of the Year while the Chief Directors of the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development and Roads and Highways, Alhaj Ing. Dr. Abass M. Awolu and Mr. Kwesi Armo-Himbson respectively, were adjudged the Most PR-Friendly Chief Directors of the Year.

Mrs. Pearl Satekla, PRO of the National Road Safety Authority, won the Best media engagement PRO, Aliyah Bayali  Musah of the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation took home the Best Assistant PRO while Munira Karim of the Ministry of Information came up as 1st Runner-UP, Best PRO of the year category and Bagbara Tanko of the Agriculture Ministry came up as the PROs’ PR of the year.

In his words of appreciation, Mr. Abraham Otabil, on behalf of award winners extended profound gratitude to the Almighty God for wisdom and strength and also all sector Ministers of the award winners for their support to all practicing public relations officers for creating the enabling environment to operate.
