My Jokes Saved a Man’s Life – MJtheComedian Reveals

Ghanaian comedian and skit maker, Musah Junior, famously known as MJtheComedian, has shared a touching story about how one of his comedy videos saved a fan who was close to taking his own life.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z with Kwame Dadzie, MJtheComedian said that comedy is more than just laughter and fun—it can also serve as therapy for people going through difficult moments.

“A gentleman nearly committed suicide. He once texted me that he needed to meet me,” he recalled.

He explained that the man later invited him to a restaurant and insisted he order anything he wanted. It was after the meeting that the man sent him an emotional message revealing how a video changed his life.

Part of the message read: “The reason why I admire you and always want to have dinner with you. Sometime last year, I was going through a lot, I had a child and I was going through mental challenges and child support things. It was too much for a young man like me. So I thought of giving up in life cos I didn’t want all these.

That afternoon I bought a drug to take and then I’d die when I sleep. So I was trying to do my last things on my phone and I came across your video for the first time in my life. I didn’t even know anything about you. So I watched the video and then it touched me. It got me laughing out loud cos I haven’t laughed in a very very long time and I thought the world was shut on me.

Your video saved my life that day. I came to understand that life was full of joy and happiness if we can find it. I threw the medicine away and then went back watching more of your videos. This is the reason I appreciate you so much bro. I really love your work. Your work saved my life. I owe you a great debt and I don’t know how I can ever repay you. I’m so grateful bro.”

The comedian said the message left him deeply emotional and made him realise how powerful comedy can be.

MJtheComedian, who has gained fame through his hilarious social media skits, has become one of Ghana’s leading comedy voices.

He has performed at shows such as Laughline and Comedy Express, and appeared at major events like Lord of the Ribs and Night of 1027 Laughs. He also hosts the annual Dashiki Festival, celebrating culture and laughter.
