Juabenhene clocks 50 years

JUABENHENE NANA OTUO Serebuo has chalked 50 years on the royal Asante Juaben Stool and the great occasion was marked, amid pomp and pageantry on Saturday.

Top dignitaries, including President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa, were in Juaben to make the event grand.

Also visiting Juaben to make the programme memorable was the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who was accompanied by a retinue of high level Asante chiefs.

There was wild applause at the Prof. Adu Boahen Complex (Park), venue for the colourful traditional programme, when the Asantehene’s delegation finally appeared there.

President Akufo-Addo, whose speech was very brief, openly showered tons of praises on the Juabenhene, who doubles as the Chairman of the Council of State.

He said the Juabenhene’s half century reign, has led to peace, unity and development, therefore Nana Otuo Serebuo should be celebrated for his great work.

According to the President, Juabenhene has used his position as a traditional leader to bring progress to his community so other chiefs should emulate him.

Nana Otuo Serebuo, on his part, mentioned school buildings, assembly complex, toilet facilities, street lights and the Adu Boahen Complex as some of his projects.

He stated that he still has plans to improve on his great achievements for juaben in order to make life comfortable for his people, calling for support from all-and-sundry.

Nana Otuo Serebuo urged his colleague chiefs and opinion leaders in the various communities to educate the youth, who are the future leaders, about their tradition and culture.
