Kaaka’s widow questions committee’s mandate

WIDOW OF the late Ibrahim Mohammed aka ‘Kaaka’, has caused a stir by asking about the mandate of the three-member Committee, probing the recent military killing of civilians at Ejura in the Ashanti Region.

Sahada Hudu, who appeared before the Committee in Kumasi on Monday, asked whether the Committee was investigating circumstances leading to the death Kaaka.

In response, Justice George Kingsley Koomson, the Chairman of the Committee, said the Committee was not investigating what led to the death of the late Kaaka.

According to him, investigations into what led to the demise of Kaaka was being undertaken by the police, who would work to apprehend the culprits to face the law.

He also stated that the Committee has been mandated by government to probe what led to the riots and deaths in Ejura and offer suggestions to stop its reoccurrence.

Sahada Hudu, on what may have led to the gruesome murder of Kaaka, said she was cock sure social media activities was responsible for the death of her husband.

According to her, some key figures in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ejura, were not happy about how Kaaka continuously exposed the bad things in society.

Sahada Hudu said Kaaka continually confided in her that some NPP members were issuing threats to him over his (Kaaka’s) exposure of some rots in the system.

According to the widow, even though Kaaka was an NPP member, he (Kaaka) believed that it was his moral duty to expose the wrongs in the system to help make it better.

She therefore said that for the fact that Kaaka was murdered, clearly shows that “his social media activities which exposed rots in the system, led to his death”.

Kaaka, it would be recalled, was gruesomely murdered by some unknown fiendish people, who attacked him right at the main gate of his house in the wee hours of June 25, 2021.

His untimely death caused extreme anger among residents of Ejura, especially the youth, who during rioting, clashed with security agents, leading to the death of two people.
