Kan Dapaah deserves commendation – Buaben Asamoa

Director of Communications of New Patriotic Party (NPP),Yaw Buaben Asamoa is of the firm opinion that, the National Security Minister, Kan. Dapaah and his team should be applauded for the swift measures been untaken following the assault of Citi FM journalist, Caleb Kudah’s.

He said the Minister has owned up to the unaccepted attitude of some of his officers and the fact that he has  sanctioned them to the law of the country sends a positive remark which  must be lauded by all meaning Ghanaians.

According to Buaben Asamoa, it is about time when right measures and appropriate sanctions are adhered to for the growth of the country’s development, it must be acknowledged.

“That National Security went there and did was not palatable so now that they have owned up and tried to do something positive about it by appearing to sanction people, is lauded because we’re moving from a position of weakness,” he said on Joy FM’s News File, Saturday, May 22.

Mr. Asamoa added that “even as the National Security has been bold enough to come forward and be accountable and propose measures, it is also equally important that the media also come out and look at their modules and determine whether or not their actions also ensure stability of the state because all the institutions of the state are all after one thing, the stability of the state.”

His comment comes after the Ministry of National Security in a statement last Friday described the action of his officers as inappropriate following the assault on Caleb Kudah and the raid on Citi FM and Citi TV.

The Ministry further withdrawn its Director of Operations, Lieutenant Colonel Frank Agyeman, and three other police officers attached to the outfit over the attack.

While Lt. Col. Agyeman is to report to the Chief of Defence for further probe and appropriate sanctions, the three officers are to be investigated by the Ghana Police Service and possibly face disciplinary action.

“The Committee established that the conduct of Lieutenant Colonel Frank Agyeman (Director of Operations) and some police officers at the Ministry on the said day was inappropriate and contravened the Ministry’s standard operating procedures.”

“The secondment of Lieutenant Colonel Frank Agyeman (Director of Operations) at the Ministry has been reversed. The officer is to report to the Chief of Defence for further investigations and appropriate action” the statement further added.

Background
