Kasoa: Key Suspect Arrested In Police Killing

The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of the key suspect in the heinous murder of two police officers with the Kasoa Divisional Command.

The suspect Eric Kojo Duah was arrested onboard black Golf no. GW 5972 — 18 with a plaster on his left side of his face heading towards the Volta Region.

He was arrested upon a tip-off by a police officer on duty at Atimpoku bridge in the Eastern Region. He has since been conveyed to the Police Headquarters in Accra.

Kojo Duah’s arrest makes the number of suspects arrested four.

Serial police killings

Wednesday’s incident brings the number of reported police assassinations to five.

Last week, L/Cpl. Alhassan Asare was found lifeless in a plastic chair while on guard duty at the Dukes Petroleum Filling station at Swedru in the Eastern region at about 5:40 am.

His rifle was in between his thighs having sustained severe gunshot wounds on the head. The uniform was soaked with blood.

Three empty shells were found on the ground, a report said. That was after an officer was killed in Manso Nkwanta in the Ashanti region.

Bawumia’s words of encouragement

Extending heartfelt condolences on behalf of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and the entire government to the family, Dr Bawumia expressed confidence in the IGP and his men to work hard towards bringing “the perpetrators of this dastardly act to book” and announced a GHC 10,000 reward for information leading to the capture of any of the perpetrators on the run.

On the continued safety of police officers, Vice-President Bawumia announced that 4,500 bulletproof vests have been delivered to the Police to help stem these unfortunate incidents and urged them to wear the bulletproof vests and not say that they are uncomfortable to wear.
