Kasoa: Land Guards Rape Woman to Near-Death

A petty trader at Opeikuma, a suburb of Kasoa in the Awutu Senya East District of the Central Region, has said that land guards brutally raped and assaulted her until she became unresponsive and almost died.

The petty trader explained to Class91.3FM’s regional correspondent Calvis Tetteh that her assailants left her for dead near a river, after she lost consciousness during the ordeal.

Her only sin, she said, was querying them about a piece of land at Opeikuma – on which lies a footpath and road – which the land guards were planning on selling to a prospective buyer.

After the deal fell through, the angry land guards, she narrated, decided to teach her a lesson.

They accosted her as she went to the market, pinned her down amidst punches and kicks, as one of the gang members brutally raped her.

She said the land guards virtually choked the life out of her during the entire ordeal.

Fearing she was dead after falling unconscious, her assailants dumped her by the riverside.

She, however, re-gained consciousness a few hours later and crawled back into the community where she was found and rushed to the Winneba Government Hospital for care.

Doctors at the facility confirmed she had, indeed, been raped.

She told Class News she was able to recognise one Mensah among her assailants.

She believes if Mensah were to be arrested by the Kasoa Police Command, he could lead the police to the arrest of his accomplices.
