Kotoko Ex Coach Zito Joins AshantiGold

Coach Karim Zito has taken over at Division One League side AshantiGold, just 15 days after resigning from Asante Kotoko.

Zito stepped down from his role with the Porcupines following a poor run of one win in six matches. Now, he has joined AshantiGold to help the club achieve promotion to the Ghana Premier League. The length of his contract is not officially confirmed, but he is expected to stay until the end of the season.

AshantiGold currently leads Zone 2 in the Division One League with 40 points after Matchday 20. The club is eager to strengthen its squad and technical team as it pushes for a return to the top flight.

Zito is no stranger to success. He guided Dreams FC to FA Cup glory in 2023 and also led them to the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup. After moving to Kotoko, he repeated the FA Cup triumph last season and added the Toyota Cup, Super Cup, and President’s Cup to his achievements.

Despite his short time at Kotoko, Zito’s record shows he is capable of winning trophies and building competitive teams. His experience is expected to be a major asset for AshantiGold, especially as the club looks to develop young talent and maintain consistency on the pitch.

The former Dreams FC and Ghana U-20 head coach is widely respected for his ability to develop young players and create strong squads. AshantiGold hopes his winning mentality and tactical knowledge will give the team the boost it needs to secure promotion.
