Kotoko Probes Sexual Claims By Former Player

Asante Kotoko’s Communications Director, Sarfo Duku, has expressed disappointment over recent comments made by the club’s former midfielder, Justice Blay.

In a now viral interview on Pure FM, Blay claimed that some players in the team were involved in inappropriate behavior.

He alleged that some players snatched teammates’ girlfriends and engaged in smoking and heavy drinking while in camp. He even accused former striker Kwame Opoku of secretly dating his ex-girlfriend after being introduced to her.

Reacting on Luv FM’s Kick Off show, Sarfo Duku described Blay’s remarks as “very unfortunate” and unexpected, especially because the club and the player ended their contract on good terms.

“We think that the comments from our former player are very unfortunate and it was least expected from him. After we had a very fruitful discussion and mutually terminated our contract, we thought that the dust had settled. And for him to have gone out there to make those comments is very unfortunate,” he said.

Sarfo Duku revealed that the club has begun an internal investigation into the matter.

“But as a club, we are also looking at the whole issue and we may come out officially. These are allegations that he has made. We are investigating the issues and then we will come out at the appropriate time,” he added.

Despite the serious claims, Blay has now apologised to his former teammates and Kotoko supporters on Friday July 11, 2025. He admitted that his remarks may have hurt others and expressed regret for the backlash that followed.

The club, however, has not ruled out taking further action and may release an official statement after completing their investigations.
