Satirist Kwaku Sintim-Misa (KSM) has expressed his reservations about comments made by Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin regarding the role of prophecies in national matters.
KSM acknowledged the importance of respecting religious leaders but disagreed with the context in which Bagbin made his remarks.
“Mr. Speaker, let me say I beg to differ. I really, really beg to differ,” he stressed on his KSM show monitored by MyNewsGh.
He explained that Bagbin’s comments, made while visiting grieving families, were poorly timed.
“You know, your own Bible says you mourn with those that mourn and you rejoice with those that rejoice. I think the timing was wrong, Mr. Speaker.”
Reflecting on his personal experiences, KSM revealed that he has been threatened many times by prophetic declarations but does not dismiss them entirely.
“I listen to the prophecies. I don’t take them sleeping because that’s their area. I can’t say somebody who is not in parliament will know parliamentary work more than me. And so I don’t know about the spiritual world more than those who are taking it as a career,” he said.
While emphasising that some prophetic voices deserve attention, the satirist cautioned against taking every prophecy at face value, stressing that evidence and facts should guide public discourse.
“All these things work for good. We should not ignore them,” KSM remarked, underscoring that a thorough investigation into the recent helicopter crash remains the most credible path to finding answers and preventing future tragedies.
