Kudus Apologizes Over Ghana’s AFCON Exit

Black Stars midfielder Mohammed Kudus has apologized for the Black Stars poor performance at the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire.

He issued the apology via a statement posted on his X (formerly Twitter) page in the wake of the Stars first round exit from the AFCON for the second edition in a row.

Ghana’s elimination was confirmed after Cameroon’s dramatic 3-2 win over The Gambia; in three Group B games, the Black Stars lost 1-2 to Cote D’Ivoire and drew 2-2 with Mozambique and Egypt respectively.

Despite Ghana’s poor run in Cote D’Ivoire, Kudus starred in his debut AFCON campaign by bagging two goals in two games after missing Ghana’s loss to Cape Verde due to injury.

His performances got him to win the Man of the Match Award against Egypt and Mozambique but they weren’t enough to get Ghana through to the round of 16 stage and the West Ham midfielder apologized for this failure.

Kudus is set to return to West Ham to see out his debut season in the English Premier League.
