Kumasi ‘Kwashee Boys’ Grabbed

POLICE IN Kumasi have made a major headway in the fight against the snatching of mobile phones in streets in the city with the arrest of three suspects.

They are Abdul Fatawu, alias ‘UN’, aged 22, Philip Nyarko, alias ‘Kagawa’, aged 24 years, and Samak Hadi, nicknamed in the streets as ‘Toronto’, aged 21.

The trio, reportedly, mainly terrorized residents of Asokore Mampong, KNUST, Kanyase, Bosore, Duase, Antoa, Mayanka, Ayeduase, and surrounding areas.

DCOP Arthur Osei Akoto, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, said 65 mobile phones, 4 tablets and 5 laptops have been retrieved from the suspects.

Addressing journalists in Kumasi, he stated that the police received series of reports about how the aforementioned suspects were terrorizing the people.

Armed with this vital information, DCOP Osei Akoto said the police, acting upon intelligence, arrested the suspects from their hideouts to face the law.

All the three suspects, he noted, have admitted to the offense in their caution statements, adding that the three suspects would be hauled to court without delay.

He urged those who may have fallen victim to the criminal activities of the three suspects to report to the Command to help assist with ongoing investigations.
