Kumasi Looks Clean – German MP

DIETNAR BROCKES, the Chairman of the Committee for European and International Affairs, State Parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia, Federal State in Germany, has described Kumasi as a “clean city”.

He has therefore commended the Kumasi Metropolitan Assemby (KMA), especially the Kumasi Mayor, Osei Assibey Antwi, for creating and maintaining a clean and beautiful city, urging him to sustain his good works.

“Mayor, your city Kumasi, looks extremely clean. Right from the airport to the city center, I saw a city that is clean and I will just commend you and your officials for doing a great job here”, Dietnar Brockes remarked.

This was when he led a delegation of Members of Parliament (MP) from the Federal State of Germany to visit Kumasi and explore the possible areas that Germany and Ghana could team up and do business.

Dietnar Brockes stated that German businessmen always seek for areas where they could do long term businesses for the mutual benefit of both parties, noting that he sees Kumasi as a perfect area for one to invest.

According to him, aside the clean and beautifully nature of Kumasi, residents of the city are also friendly, assuring that upon his return to Germany, he would persuade some investors to visit Kumasi and do business.

He mentioned climate change as a key area where Ghana and Germany could collaborate to do a long term business for the mutual benefit of the two countries, adding that he was impressed about what he had witnessed in Kumasi.

Dietnar Brockes also said it is possible that Germany would enter into agreement with Ghana for the latter to start exporting trained nurses to Germany to help in the healthcare system of Germany, very soon.

The Kumasi Mayor, Osei Assibey Antwi, described Kumasi as the best place for any foreign investor to do business and make profit, saying that the city is centrally located and also boasts of several areas for investment.

He identified congestion in the city and accommodation as some of the pressing challenges facing Kumasi now and called on German businessmen to invest in high-rising car parks and housing projects in Kumasi and make profit.
