Mayor Woos Investors to Kumasi

THE MAYOR of Kumasi, Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi, has described Kumasi as a business-friendly city and has thus invited investors from the United Kingdom to invest in the city.

He said there are so many investment opportunities in Kumasi and posited that any investor that would invest in the city would surely accrue huge dividends.

The Mayor listed the numerous satellite markets, high-rise car parks, bus terminals, hostels in the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), and tourism, as some of the areas that entrepreneurs could invest in.

He lamented that KNUST currently caters for just 21% of its 40,000 accommodation needs and called on investors to seriously look into that area.

Hon. Antwi was speaking at a mammoth durbar of chiefs and people of Nhyiaeso Constituency in honour of the British High Commissioner to Ghana, His Excellency Iain Walker.

He said even though Kumasi now faces a lot of challenges in the areas of congestion and littering, such challenges could easily be turned into opportunities for investment.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Nhyiaeso, Hon. Kennedy Kankam, on his part, bemoaned the lack of educational, health and other amenities in the constituency and called for support from the British Envoy.

Responding, His Excellency Iain Walker recounted the special bond that existed between Ghana and the United Kingdom, and promised to do his best to enhance the healthy relationship between the two countries.
